Number Three
Prince Of Darkness
1987
You know, I am almost embarrassed about this one but I'm going to keep the list true. It's hard to admit but this movie used to scare the bejesus out of me. Seriously, I thought it utterly terrifying! I'd not seen it in about eight years so I watched it recently. Still scary but for reasons I can't explain it seems more silly than anything else.
Summary of plot is this: a priest, who is the caretaker of a spooky old church, enlists the help of a college physicist professor and his students in order to figure out what the deal is with a mysterious container of swirling green evil that's hidden in the basement. A run on sentence if ever there was one. Get over it.
Suspenseful, dark and moody, the technology vs. ancient evil prophecy was what scared me most. You know, they are translating text from a book hundreds of years old - it's not only filled with creepy proclamations like "you will not be saved!" but also high level math formulas that were not invented/discovered until the twentieth century.
Everybody in the building is having the same disturbing dreams of a dark figure in the door during which a whispery voice "transmits" it's message to their brain. Ok, I take it all back....this movie still scares me! It's got it all, worms stuck to windows, zombies, the foot of the devil and Alice Cooper! Go rent it now!
