So completely absorbed was I in the Survivor finale last night, I completely neglected to update the song of the week. You are all shocked and appalled I am sure since it is after all, the highlight of your week. I am forced to pick from what music I have on my hard drive since my zen usb cable is at home. Yes, I made it into work today. The weather wasn't so bad after all.
As you may or may not know, Cheap Trick is one of my all time favorite bands. If all you know of them is Dream Police, Surrender and I Want You to Want Me, you have no idea what they are all about. Sadly, this is the case with most people. Personally, I would be happy if I never heard those three songs ever again. I wish to God they would stop playing them live. They have such an incredible catalog of work, it makes me sad so many amazing songs go unplayed but I digress
The Song of the Week is Stop This Game. An excellent showcase of the extraordinary vocal talents of Robin Zander who also used to be (in my humble opinion) the most achingly handsome man on the planet. Funny side note about this song, if you play it backwards the beginning vocals sound like he's saying open the box luther. Yes, as a teenager I was fucking around with some friends and playing lp's backwards on my mom's record player. We were simultaneously creeped out and amused by this discovery and played it again and again. Not surprisingly, my copy of All Shook Up is junk.
