Ugh, I've got a bit of a headache. Most likely due to the three plus hours I spent driving around on this blindingly sunny and bitter cold afternoon. I should take some aspirin before I settle in here in front of the computer. Be right back.
Ok, that should do it.
First stop today was an animal shelter a couple towns south. Jeff had a brilliant plan this morning. Since I'm planning on volunteering at the shelter, he suggested we foster a mother cat with kittens. That way we are a. doing a good deed with being a foster home and b. we'd get to see the kittens grow and pick whatever one we wanted without all the bullshit we've been going through. So, I put my application for volunteering and fostering. The place was on the small side but it was well kept and manned by two very friendly ladies. Nothing like the place we visited last week that was overcrowded, filthy and stunk to high heaven. I am very much looking forward to the volunteer experience not to mention fostering kittens! Good idea love, it's the perfect solution.
After the animal shelter I ran a couple errands and before I knew it, lunch time was upon me. Lord I was so tempted to throw Atkins under the bus and have a nice pub lunch at Desmond's or John Stone's. A crisp, cold Harpoon IPA accompanied by fish and chips in front of a cozy fireplace was almost too much to resist but in the end my willpower prevailed. The sashimi lunch special with miso soup and ginger salad was most enjoyable. After that I hit the grocery store to pick up dinner and the most amazing thing happened. The cantankerous old bastard who is usually behind the fish counter was not only pleasant, he called me dear!
Tonight's dinner special ~ seared tuna steaks and spinach salad. Yummers!
