Here I sit on my first full day of unemployment. I wonder if I can really call it that though seeing as how on Tuesdays and Thursdays I am expected to log in for my contract work. Well, either way here I am. Nursing a bit of a hangover due to yesterday's all out beer-drenched Super Bowl. I'm sure I don't have to tell you who won. I stayed up well past my bed time since the game was followed by the first episode of All Star Survivor. I won't get into the details since Jeff's not watched it yet but Richard Hatch gets all kinds of naked on the show. It's fucking hysterical. For those not in the know, Rich is the original Survivor winner and was known as The Naked Fat Guy. He's reprised his role with enthusiasm, God love him. But back to my hangover. I don't really have one. Just a slight head ache. The perfect cup on tea I've got before me is taking care of that quite nicely. And just in case you're wondering, the perfect cup of tea looks like this.

Just about three weeks since I applied for volunteer work and fostering at the shelter and still no word. The site was recently updated with the following:

URGENT NEED FOR FOSTER PARENTS!!!
Baypath currently has a critical, immediate need for foster families for cats who are pregnant or have just had a litter. Sadly, kitten season is no longer a season – it’s become a year round situation. If you would like to help out by offering a loving, temporary home for cats in need, please call Elaine Brem at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

I left a message with Elaine this morning. Since Jeff and I are getting a wee bit impatient at this point I called another local shelter that up to about last week, had been posting new kittens regularly. Figures now I can pop in the car and get over there at a moment's notice there have been no updates. You'll absolutely never guess what they told me when I asked if there were kittens available. "No. It's not kitten season." (said in a manner that suggested I should know this) Again with the season! Somebody get me a fucking calendar!!
