Finally Spring is here. I know officially it's been Spring for nearly a month but screw that, March is cold! We've had a few gorgeous days in the seventies here in beautiful New England and god have I ever missed my deck and being warm. A sure sign of being out of the reach of Winter is seeing this guy at your bird feeder.

An American Goldfinch. First time I saw one of these guys was when we moved into the neighborhood a few years ago. I thought somebody's pet canary had gotten loose. Such pretty little things. The chipmunks have yet to emerge and I'm beginning to think I had a bit too much sport last Summer. Killed all my own fun I did. I made a general announcement to the woods that I would not shoot any varmints until June at the earliest. I want them to have a chance to make little varmints first! Har har har. Seriously though, there will never be another Summer like last. *Sigh* 85 VKC will be an unsurpassed milestone throughout my life. (insert maniacal laughter here)

Oh and Jeff and I are doing this race in June!

You run five miles around Southie at 11AM in the morning then drink the finest beer* there is, fresh from the brewery. Aw yeah baby. I've already begun my training and not to brag or anything but after busting my ass in 75 minute long classes like Step & Sculpt and Step Cross Training for the past two months, running feels easy. My first attempt at a run since our 3 mile Turkey Classic on Thanksgiving was, pardon the pun, a cake walk. Just for the record, I found that 3 miler hard back then. Last week I ran 3 miles without feeling winded at all. Granted I was only running a 5.5 mph pace. I'm sure come June (and it's heat) I'll be eating my words as I struggle around Castle Island, huffing and puffing as I curse my desire for a new race t-shirt.

*Second to Jeff's homebrewed American IPA that is. Yummy!
