The real reason I'm so desperate for a job:

Were I in an office environment right now, I could be bitching about how the air conditioning is too cold! Instead I'm stuck in the house doing my contract work. Upstairs. In the office. With no ac. It's so hot I've got all the windows closed and the shades drawn in a (vain) effort to keep the house cool. Not sure it's working.

Latest word on the job front was received on Friday in the form of a brief email from my staffing rep informing me I'm still the "top candidate" but they have someone internal who wants the job "who they do have to meet with".

Bah.

So my quilting hobby has officially taken on a life of its own. The weekend of the Fourth I started a quilt for my three year old nephew/godson. I gotten about half way through making the top before the sewing machine I'd borrowed from my mom decided it had had enough and instead of stitching, made lots of knots instead. As luck would have it about a week later Jeff brought home probably the one thing left in his father's house of any use & value. A pre-World War II portable sewing machine, the Singer Featherweight 221, mint with all accessories. It is FUCKING GORGEOUS and runs beautifully. Turns out these little machines are EXTREMELY popular among quilters and what not. It's worth roughly $500 but I ain't selling it. I had her tuned up the past week and last night made great progress on the quilt. See! Oh and here's another picture. I'm putting another 4" border in the light blue novelty fabric around it then the top will be done.

Becky, you and your mom have created a quilt monster!
