And so it goes. So much preparation and in the blink of an eye - my Halloween party is a thing of the past. Much fun was had by all (or so they tell me!) and the house wasn't a terrible mess after all was said and done. Don't get me wrong, there was a mess...but it was cleaned up without hours of effort. I had the place back in order before noon on Sunday and proceeded to spend the rest of the day watching the football game (Pat's won) and feasting on many-MANY bad for me, leftover party foods such as a killer tiramisu.
Things I've learned for next year are:
Nobody drinks punch.
You can never have enough shrimp cocktail.
When people are leaving make them take leftover yummy party food such as tiramisu so I don't end up eating all of it next day.
And as ephemeral as October is (to me anyway) there is still Halloween proper to celebrate this Friday. Not sure what (if anything) will be done. Many options in the city but my partner in crime (Becky) is unavailable until after 9PM. What to do ~ what to do. What I don't want to do is sit in the house and wait for the doorbell to ring. Did that last year and it was a drag I tell you. Considering the procreative nature of our neighborhood we expected far more Trick or Treaters then actually came. As a result I was unhappily left with a giant bowl of tiny candy bars and not a shred of willpower to resist them. There are three things that if they have the misfortune to be in the house, I WILL consume them....chocolate, beer and potato chips. I am a weak, weak woman.
